Repose Taboo'd by Anxiety

This is what you draw when it's 3AM and you're awake because of a bloody migraine and you want to go to sleep but you can't because the pain in your head and the sickness in your stomach gets worse when you try to lay down so you have to sit upright and you can't quite focus well enough to read but you can, at least, scribble on paper with a pencil.

No, I didn't do the digital painting of it at 3AM, just the original concept sketch. The painting was done over the next two days after the headache went away. It doesn't *quite* embody my headache, since I would think that if that part of my skull blew off it would feel *better*, but I can't draw something that feels like the moment right *before* it blew... although the weird half-open eye is what mine feels like.

And the title is from a verse from Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe:

When you’re lying awake with a dismal headache,
and repose is taboo’d by anxiety,
I conceive you may use any language you choose
to indulge in without impropriety.
