Les Marchands du Desir

This is the picture a friend of mine won from me in the Sweet Charity auction. She asked for a picture featuring four mysterious shopkeepers from four different manga. I spent a long time working out what to do, and it wasn't until I realized that it needed to be Art Nouveau, more specifically influenced by Alphonse Mucha, that it came together.

Time: I don't know. Well over a week.

The original is at 13 x 19", so I can print it out on my NEEEEEW Epson printer that will do 13 x 19" borderless prints.

Linework done in Manga Studio, everything else done in Photoshop. The four decorations are from a Dover Art Nouveau clip-art book, as are the patterns in their clothes.




And to let you out of your misery, since I would be surprised if anyone got all four characters:

1. Yuuko, mysterious proprieter of the shop of wishes from xxxHolic
2. Mr. Yang, mysterious antiques salesclerk from The Antique Gift Shop
3. Count D, mysterious owner of the Petshop of Horrors
4. Kou, mysterious doctor from Wild Adapter

And the French is: The Merchants of Desire. Hopes, Wants*, Needs, Dreams.

* Well, "envies" is a kind of wishes/hopes. XD I conferred with a French speaker over what to use, since "wants" is usually translated "désirs" and I didn't want to repeat the word, and she suggested "les envies".
