Kakashi Figure Study - Detail by telophase Kakashi Figure Study - Detail by telophase
This is a detail of a larger figure study I did last night - due to a story that is far too long and way too stupid to relate here, I'm working on converting some of my old male figure studies from class to fanart that I'm planning on selling as a small portfolio of prints at A-Kon.

I have no real reason for not putting the whole figure here, other than a vague sense of not wanting to hide it behind a Mature Content tag and a desire to show off Kakashi's hair. Yeah, that's his knee in front of his shoulder looking somewhat uncomfortable - that particular model was rather flexible, and I figure as a ninja, so is Kakashi, so you guys can deal.

(I am now amusing myself thinking that I am actually pushing fine art onto fangirls in the guise of OMG TEH NEKKID!!11!one!11!)

I love the soft blending effect. The hair texture is very cool. Although the composition of this cropped version is interesting, it's too bad that you felt the need to crop it. Lots of great work in your gallery! Keep up the great work.

Yeah, I would say Kakashi is pretty flexable himself. That's some great talent you have there. I think Genma's pose would have been better for Kakashi though he he he

Heehee! Thanks! I've got Kakashi and Genma up so far, I've got an Iruka done that I haven't bothered to upload yet, and I need to figure out three more to do that are all of legal age in the manga, so I can have a nice six-print portfolio. Hrm.

Uploaded!

I want this portfolio to be all male, although if I've got time I can do an all-female one, too. Anyway, the age-thing really limits my choices ... there's Hayate and Asuma and Jiriaya, and Kabuto and one of the two examiners - the one with the bandage across his face, Kotetsu or Izumo is his name, I think - and possibly the fathers of Shikamaru and Kiba, but the rest tend to resemble each other if you remove their clothing. And I WILL NOT draw Gai-sensei! NO! NO! NO!

You will draw those other characters too!!! :excited: I'm so excited!! :D

Wasn't it Kiba's mom that was featured in the show? ^^; I don't remember seeing his dad XD

You hate Gai-sensei??? XD  Well, in my opinion, he looks annoying but his attitude's freakin hilarious!

Kiba's dad shows up in the episode where Orochimaru's people are trashing Konoha, and the Leaf nins fight back. There's just somethng about Gai-sensei's character design and personality that drives me up the friggin' wall. :)

It's a very shrot scene - you see Kiba's dad and his mom crying 'Havoc' and letting slip the dogs of war.

Er, sorry random Shakespearean quote there. But it's appropriate.

See you there, then! The guy running the Komik market is a friend of mine and I told him that I wanted to be next to the CBLDF table and Brian Stelfreeze, 'cause we're all friends, and Mike said sure, so depending on if he remembers or not I might be over wherever they are. Or if he doesn't remember, I'll be ... somewhere else.

Oh good god. :\~~~ So lovely. Kakashi is just.. X'D~ This pose seems so...dirty! Unexpected of him. Which makes it a really interesting image. Maybe even a little thrilling, since I have such a wild, jump-to-conclusions imagination. +fave~

:D Thanks! I was looking through my old figure sketches from classes, saw that one, and decided that it fit Kakashi perfectly because of his shoulder partially obscuring his face - I've never been satisfied with any fanart I've seen that shows Kakashi's face, and I think the mystery is part of what appeals to me about him. Plus it sort of gives him that, y'know, seductive look.

I'm gonna be selling the prints at A-Kon and on my website, once I get my website up and running again, so people will eventually be able to see him in all his but-nekkid glory. :D

Answer me one question...Why do people enjoy this anime so much?
It's become a HUGE hit in the anime subculture, but why?

Thank you!

As for what is appealing about this particular anime? I can't speak for anyone else, but what got me hooked was the characters -- I started out reading the manga instead of the anime, so I don't know if I'd have stuck with it if all I saw was the anime, but Kishimoto Masashi is a master at subtle characteriztion -- something you wouldn't expect in a typical shounen fighting manga. He makes almost all of his characters three-dimensional and believable, and has a habit of introducing a character and making you hate him, then pulling the rug out from under you so you end up sympathizing with him. Characterization is what makes something for me - I don't care that much about the setting or the plot, as long as there are good characters I can sink my teeth into.

the only detail here that I can really commend yourself on is the smudge shading that trails down into the darker depths of his torso

heehee. thanks, I assume, since I can't *quite* tease out your meaning. :) There's soemthing about the headband that I really like. Not the bit on the left where it wraps arou d his head - that could be handled better - but the overall shape and color, and something about the shadow of it right above his Sharingan eye works really well for me.
