[ edit ] Deepened the shadows on his shirt and pants at *LadyAttercop's suggestion, to emphasize the fact that he's hunched over. There's a few other things that have been pointed out by people, but they involve major structural changes so probably won't be happening, but I'll keep them in mind for future pics. :D Thanks!

========================================

It's done, it's done! Was it worth the wait?

For those coming new to my DA account, this is L from Death Note, along with his freaky monkey toes. I've been posting the sketch for this as I refined it to get advice from others, and I think it all turned out well in the end. Many, many thanks to all who helped! Previous version found at this [link] in my scraps.

Linework done in ink on comic board, scanned into and cleaned up in Photoshop, colored in Painter, then back to Photoshop for finishing touches. I wasn't originally going to color him any more than putting that red off-center frame behind him, but he turned out to need more. I'm glad I did, though; I think he polished up nicely.

Wow. A new setting: Critiques Welcome/Critique Discouraged/Comments Disabled. Huh. Well, I'm probably gonna always leave it on Critique Welcome and reserve the right to think you're an idiot. ;)

(No, really, I do appreciate all crits, even when I don't agree with them, because I knew you took the time to look at the picture and think about it.)

of course I'm out of my mind, it's dark and scary in there
oh but I luff his feet/toes! :) I also really like the folds in his clothes. I don't have any real crits, but maybe his left foot (our right) should be more aligned with his pant..leg...er...not sure what I'm trying to say, but it's probably just me ^^; Nice work!

I really like the pose of this character, very coocoo for cocoa puffs, and that dark red stripe behind him is killer. It gives the pic an intesity & unease that it wouldn't have without it. Very nice! :clap:

And since you asked for crits: :evillaugh:
I would suggest darkening the shadows on his shirt and the crotch area of his pants to make him looked a little more hunched over. The pose suggests he's really folded over himself, but the tones in that area aren't that much darker than the ones on the clothing that is more in the foreground. The light is coming from the upper right hand side of the pic, so the part of his body that was folded underneith him would have the deepest shadows.

His eyes are also a little too far apart as well, but I wouldn't change that. It adds to his unhinged appearance.

You now reserve the right to think I'm an idiot. ;)

well I thought you would say something like that :)

I know what you mean. He's got his foot cocked up on its side, which bends his ankle away from the pant leg. But it *does* look weird and this is just one of those times where somehting that works in reality doesn't work in art, I think. Heh. Thanks!

OMG UR SUCH AN IDIOT!!11!! :D

No, I hadn't really noticed that there ought to be some darker shading there, and you're absolutely right. I'll probably work on it a bit more tomorrow when I'm not falling-over sleepy. :D Thanks!
