Very nice use of the conte pencils and nice pose as well. How did you keep the conte from rubbing off onto the scanner?

thanks! I really liked *PZB's charcoal/pencil renderings and thought I'd try the same thing, but I had this red Conte pencil I'd never used before just waiting to be tried out...

thanks. The paper is 16 x 20" in dimensions, and the glass of my scanner is receded a wee bit and only 8.5 x 11", so when the paper is sitting on it, it's not actually touching the glass.

That's about the only *good* thing about my scanner. I've got some osrt of haze or discoloration on part of the glass *inside* it, and the stupid case is molded around it or something so that I can't get into it to clean the glass without breaking it, it compresses everything it scans 3% in one direction, and I think the scanning assembly is rotated ever-so-slightly off so that when I scan something in two parts and try to match it together, it's always a hassle. When I get a job, I think my first major purchase post-first-paycheck is going to be a new scanner.

That's incredible! Mmmn, I remember that you try out a lot of different styles every time I see your work, everything you do seems to be such an experiment for you, you're trying out everything, I wish I had that kind of boldness, i'm afraid to go beyond what I know, either because it's too expensive, or i'm afraid i'm just going to ruin it or flunder it up somehow.

Saiyuki? Right? Is that what he's from...? I remember seeing the anime. I don't remember liking it .......lol.....but I saw the manga recently, and remember drooling over the cover, because it was so darn pretty.... anyways, good work.

Aah, understood. I have to do something similar to that with one of my sketchbooks cuz it's about 2 inches wider and longer than my scanner. But considering the condition that your scanner's in...yeah, I agree that you should get a new one. o_o I've been using my HP scanner for about 4 years now and have been lucky that it's still surviving. It does cut off about a couple centimeters on the left and bottom side.
